1st Icing Smiles Cake!

I am beyond thrilled to share this post! Over this past weekend, I had the opportunity to make my 1st ever Icing Smiles cake, right here in Richmond, VA! I cannot say enough about this fantastic organization that helps critical/terminal ill children have their cake dreams and wishes fulfilled. Visit their website and Facebook page to learn more about them and to also see some of the other fabulous cakes that other talented cake designers have made! Such a wonderful blessing!

Tracy (Icing Smiles founder) contacted me in August to make a cake for the Starlight Foundation in Mid-Atlantic. I was super excited and accepted the “job” right away! The Starlight Foundation is another amazing organization provides entertainment, education and family activities for seriously ill children all throughout the United States. How amazing is that? Check out their website and Facebook page as well!

Now on to the cake – Pumpkins!

There was a request for a fall-themed cake so after some pondering, I came up with the idea to create a “Pumpkin Harvest” cake! Below are some fabulous pictures Starlight took at the actual event:

I also received this sweet note from Starlight MidAtlantic:

“Your cake was a big hit! It looked AWESOME! Everyone is still talking about it!”

Needless to say, I am so happy everyone enjoyed everything and I am definitely looking forward to more Icing Smiles cakes in the future! :-D

Rose Romance – Part One

I am beyond excited to share these lovely pictures with you taken by the super talented Ashley Glasco of Ashley Glasco Photography! This romantic and subtle photo shoot was inspired by all things beautiful and elegant. The gorgeous name plates, custom cards, antique rose tea cup, antique milk glass (I “heart”!!) and hand made props were all custom designed specifically for this photo shoot by the insanely talented Christine San Agustin of Custom CurioSities! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Birthday Duo!

I had the absolute pleasure of working with the talented Ashley Glasco of Ashley Glasco Photography on this “Tangled” & “John Deere” themed birthday dessert bar! We provided dozens of assorted cupcakes and topper cakes! Her children Kaleigh and Carter were the guests of honor for this special day! Take a look at the pictures – I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! :-)

The Adventures of the Hanging Deer

**Please note** It is not my intention to offend anyone who chooses to view this picture, and I apologize in advance if you are. I definitely do have my limits on what projects I’ll do as a cake designer but I didn’t think this was too far left field.

A bride contacted me back in April about doing a cake showing a deer hanging from a gambrel for a groom’s cake. Well the twist was that individuals who hunt, most often dress the deer “hanging” from a tree.

This cake was definitely a little bit challenging, but not impossible and I was very happy with how it came together — so were the clients!

Flavor of the cake? Red Velvet of course! :-D

Congrats to the Jessica & John!

Update:

Client called thanking us for their cake! She said it was “it was the best cake she’s ever had and everyone else agreed!”

Comments like that really make my day and makes me love me job even more! :-)

Icing Smiles

I’ve been wanting to blog about this wonderful organization for some time now, and I’m finally getting a chance to do it! I can’t remember where I initially heard about this, but I’m doing my part to spread the word! I reached out to the founder of Icing Smiles, Tracy Quisenberry, to learn how to get started. Icing Smiles is a non-profit organization that provides custom celebration cakes to children who are affected by a critical illness. Chapters of this organization are opening up in several areas so please visit their website at Icing Smiles to learn how to help in your area and donate!

We are busily working on creating partnerships with non-profit organizations in the Richmond Metro area that support children with illnesses. In addition, we will be holding a bake sale and donating all proceeds to this amazing cause. We will also be providing cakes to children to make each and every event they have a special one!

Everyone can jump on board:

1. Give a donation
2. Join their page on Facebook

Here is a brief video:

We are so happy to be a new partner with Icing Smiles!

Update!

Hey y’all,

This is just a quick update to state that we will not be taking any additional orders beginning August 1 – October 31. Starting November 1, you may begin to place holiday orders.

Thanks for your support everyone!
